The "roots" of Thomsens Greenhouse took hold in the late 1970's when Bob & Bonnie Thomsen added a small glass greenhouse to their log home. With more plants than they could use, neighbors and friends kept buying the extras. So, in 1981 the first 30' x 100' greenhouse went up, followed by another in 1982, and the business just kept growing. The Thomsen's are proud of the fact that they have grown into one Minnesota's largest greenhouse and garden centers, and through this they have helped thousands of gardeners make central Minnesota one of the most beautiful places to live!

Growing the Tradition

Now, after 27 years, Bob & Bonnie have made the decision to enjoy what they have grown, in a new stage of life. With the care and consideration that has accompanied all major decisions at Thomsens Greenhouse, the business is transitioning to a new owner. Bob and Bonnie sought an owner that would carry on the values of quality and integrity, continuing to set Thomsens Greenhouse apart in the mid-west.

The tradition now resides with Arno Shermock, a native of Chaska, and area graduate - St. John's University. Don't expect to see many changes. Arno remains committed to continuing the Thomsens Greenhouse and Garden Center tradition of being a gardener's paradise, with a vast selection of quality annuals & perennials and a friendly, knowledgeable staff.
